“This directory began in the classroom. While teaching students who were new to glass, I recognized a gap in accessible, comprehensive resources documenting the field – who is working in it, where to study, and how to build a career. What started as a simple reference list for students has grown into a public directory of glass artists, professional opportunities, educational programs, and trade shows.

In compiling this resource, a pattern became difficult to ignore. The artists who occupy the most visible positions in our field – those with gallery representation, museum acquisitions, and institutional recognition – have earned their standing, but visibility itself has historically been conferred through narrow channels. Canonization in glass, as in the broader art world, has often depended on access: to the right institutions, the right advocates, and the right moment. Talent and contribution alone have never guaranteed recognition.

This directory exists to widen those channels. It is built on the premise that the glass community is far larger, more diverse, and more accomplished than its most visible tier suggests. Countless artists – emerging, mid-career, and established – have sustained meaningful practices and made lasting contributions to this material and its culture without gallery representation or institutional endorsement.”
